In a significant crackdown on unauthorized transport operations, the Noida transport department executed a rigorous late-night enforcement drive along the Yamuna Expressway. This operation resulted in the fining of 50 buses and the seizure of 42 vehicles due to multiple serious violations. Officials confirmed that the action was part of a broader initiative to enhance road safety and ensure compliance with transport regulations.

The drive, conducted under the supervision of Ghaziabad regional transport officer (Enforcement) Siyaram Verma, targeted buses operating without valid permits or registration documents. Offences identified during the inspection included overloading of passengers, unauthorized stoppages for picking up or dropping off commuters, and various other traffic violations. Verma emphasized that the operation was carried out following direct instructions from the chief minister and transport minister to promote safe, orderly, and rule-based transport systems on Uttar Pradesh roads.
Legal Actions and Penalties Imposed
Challans were issued under the Central Motor Vehicles Act and the Uttar Pradesh Motor Vehicles Taxation Act for the violations detected. Among the 50 buses fined, 42 were seized on the spot, and a compounding fee totaling Rs 15 lakh was imposed during the drive. This stringent action underscores the department's commitment to curbing illegal transport activities that compromise passenger safety.
Risks Posed by Unauthorized Buses
Officials highlighted that buses operating without proper permits and registration certificates pose severe risks to passenger safety.
