A group of miscreants allegedly created chaos at Luharli toll plaza in Dadri on Wednesday night, injuring one employee and allowing more than a dozen vehicles to pass without paying toll charges. Police have registered an FIR and taken two people into custody.
Incident Details
According to toll plaza officials, a large convoy of vehicles arrived around 8 pm, allegedly accompanying a history-sheeter who had been released from Bulandshahr district jail earlier that evening. The group attempted to bypass toll lanes by removing barriers and avoiding payment.
When staff stopped a vehicle for payment, an argument broke out. Employee Lokman was thrashed, sustaining serious head injuries, and collapsed at the scene. He was later taken to a nearby hospital.
Despite staff resistance, over a dozen vehicles managed to pass through lanes 9 and 10, blaring sirens and horns. Police arrived after the accused had fled. An FIR was registered, and teams were formed to identify the suspects. “We have seized four cars and taken two people into custody for questioning,” a senior officer said.
Visual Evidence
Videos accessed by TOI show several vehicles zooming past barriers on lanes 9 and 10. Men can be seen hanging out of windows and sunroofs, and at several points, they get out to argue with and charge at employees, who struggle to hold barriers in place while cars crash through.
Police Investigation
Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the plaza and surrounding areas to establish the sequence of events and identify all vehicles and persons involved. Further legal action will be taken based on the findings.
