The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) of Vadodara has apprehended a notorious bootlegger, Lalchand Khanani, also known as Lalu Sindhi, from Modasa town in Aravalli district. The arrest was made following a tip-off, and the accused is wanted under the Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime (GujCTOC) Act.
Arrest Details
According to DCB officials, Sindhi was intercepted while traveling in a car and taken into custody. He faces charges under the Prohibition Act in addition to violations under the GujCTOC Act. The police have registered more than 80 offences against him, including serious crimes such as murder, assault, and extortion.
Previous Detentions
Sindhi has been detained seven times under the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act (PASA), indicating his long history of criminal activities. The DCB's swift action in Modasa marks a significant step in curbing organized crime in the region.
