
In a shocking incident that has left the upscale Regency Town neighborhood of Phagwara on edge, burglars targeted the residence of a non-resident Indian family, making off with valuable cash and jewellery while the owners were overseas.
The Daylight Break-In
The burglary occurred in broad daylight at house number 182 in the posh Regency Town locality. According to police reports, the thieves gained entry by breaking open the main door lock of the two-story house belonging to NRI Paramjit Singh.
Stolen Items Worth Lakhs
The burglars conducted a thorough search of the premises and escaped with significant valuables including:
- Approximately ₹50,000 in cash
- Gold jewellery valued at several lakhs of rupees
- Other valuable items from throughout the house
Discovery and Police Response
The crime came to light when the victims' neighbor, identified as Harpreet Singh, noticed the broken lock and signs of forced entry. He immediately alerted the Phagwara City Police Station, prompting a swift response from law enforcement authorities.
Police have registered a case and initiated a comprehensive investigation into the incident. Forensic teams have been deployed to collect evidence from the crime scene, while detectives are interviewing neighbors and examining CCTV footage from the area.
