Odisha Woman Rescued After Trafficking Ordeal in Madhya Pradesh

In a distressing case of human trafficking, a young woman from the Sundargarh district of Odisha was rescued by the Birmitrapur police on Sunday. The victim, who had been trafficked and sold to a 24-year-old youth from Madhya Pradesh three months ago, was found in a village in that state.

Details of the Trafficking Incident

The ordeal began on January 3, when a 45-year-old woman filed an FIR at the Birmitrapur police station. She alleged that a woman named Asha Jaypuria took her 20-year-old daughter from their home under the false pretense of providing employment in Rourkela. Subsequently, the daughter was transported to Katni in Madhya Pradesh with a man identified as Ranjit, a resident of Rourkela.

The complainant stated that Ranjit took her daughter to Jabalpur, where she was sold to a youth for Rs 1.50 lakh. She further accused the perpetrators of physically exploiting her daughter against her will. The victim managed to contact her mother via phone, revealing the harrowing details of her situation, which prompted the police action.
