In a horrific display of violence that has sent shockwaves through Maharashtra, an autorickshaw driver allegedly attacked a four-year-old boy with extreme brutality in Palghar district. The incident, captured on CCTV, shows the accused lifting the child by his legs, slamming him to the ground, and then smashing his head against an iron rod following a dispute with the boy's father.
Details of the Gruesome Attack
The terrifying incident occurred on Monday night at a housing society in Vasai, Palghar district. According to police officials, the attack stemmed from a minor argument between the accused autorickshaw driver, identified as Sandeep Pawar, and the child's father, Atul Kondhare. What began as a verbal dispute escalated into unimaginable violence against an innocent child.
"The brutal incident took place around 8 pm on Monday. A minor argument between the accused autorickshaw driver Sandeep Pawar and the child's father Atul Kondhare took a gruesome turn," senior police inspector Balkrishna Ghadigaonkar told news agency PTI.
Sequence of the Attack
The four-year-old boy, identified as Vignesh, was playing inside a parked autorickshaw when Pawar approached him. In a shocking sequence of events captured on surveillance cameras:
- The accused dragged the child out of the autorickshaw by his legs
- He lifted the boy into the air and hurled him violently onto the ground
- Pawar then carried the injured child into the building
- He smashed the boy's head against an iron rod
- The accused threw the child to the ground once more
"But the brutality did not stop there. Pawar then rushed inside the building while holding the child, and smashed his head against an iron rod before throwing him to the ground again. This was done solely to avenge a fight he had earlier with the boy's father over a minor issue," Ghadigaonkar added.
Additional Violence and Injuries
Sources have confirmed that the child's grandmother, who bravely attempted to intervene and stop the attack, was also assaulted by the accused. Furthermore, Pawar allegedly dragged the injured boy to his first-floor residence before the attack concluded.
The severely injured child was initially taken to nearby medical facilities but was later transferred to a specialized hospital in Mira Road due to the critical nature of his injuries. Medical reports indicate the boy remains admitted in the intensive care unit and is battling for his life.
