Panchkula: Police have arrested a man in connection with an alleged dowry harassment case linked to the suicide of his wife in Kalka. The accused was produced in court and remanded in judicial custody as investigation into the case continues.

On May 13, Kalka police station received information about a woman dying by suicide at her residence in Kalka. The brother of the deceased lodged a complaint alleging that her in-laws had been harassing her mentally and physically for dowry from the beginning. The family said the harassment intensified over time, ultimately pushing the woman to take the extreme step nearly five years after her marriage.

Legal Proceedings

A case was registered at Kalka police station and statements of the deceased woman’s parents and other family members were recorded. The husband of the deceased was arrested on May 26. He was presented before a local court, which remanded him to judicial custody. Police are continuing their investigation to gather further evidence and identify any other individuals involved in the harassment.
