Panchkula Police Bind Eight Gang Members for Six Months

Panchkula: In a preventive measure to uphold law and order following the Sonu Nolta murder case, the Panchkula Police have initiated proceedings against eight individuals allegedly linked to a criminal gang, binding them down for a period of six months.

Action by Pinjore Police

The action was taken by the Pinjore Police under Sections 126/170 and 135(3) of the BNSS to prevent any breach of peace or untoward incidents in the area. The operation was conducted under the supervision of ACP Surender Singh and Pinjore SHO, Inspector Rajesh Kumar.

Identification and Magistrate Order

Based on intelligence inputs and assessment of the prevailing circumstances, police identified eight individuals with criminal backgrounds and produced them before the executive magistrate. The magistrate directed the accused persons to maintain peace and good conduct for the next six months.

Police said the preventive action was taken solely to ensure public safety and maintain communal harmony in the region following recent developments in the Sonu Nolta case. The national Kabaddi player was shot dead last year.

Context and Conditions

The action was taken in view of the murders of Sonu Nolta and trader Jitesh Manocha. Under such action, the identified persons are required to be available for a period of six months and report to the police whenever called during that period. Police also keep a close eye on them. Police said the preventive action was taken after they received inputs about some development related to gang members.
