A police inspector in Panchkula has been formally charged following a serious road accident allegedly caused by him while driving under the influence of alcohol. The late-night incident, which resulted in significant damage to multiple vehicles, occurred near the Sector 20 traffic lights and has sparked demands for strict legal action.

Details of the Late-Night Collision

The incident took place on the night of December 14, between approximately 10:30 PM and 10:45 PM. According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered at the Sector 20 police station, the accused inspector, Charanjit Singh, was driving a car at high speed. He was reportedly in police uniform and under the influence of alcohol at the time.

The complainant, Jaspal Puri, a resident of Trishla City in Zirakpur, stated that he was traveling with his family from Yamunanagar to Zirakpur. As their car approached the Sector 20 traffic lights, Inspector Charanjit Singh's vehicle allegedly rammed into it with great force.

Chain Reaction and Vehicle Damage

After the initial collision, the inspector's car reportedly veered onto the wrong side of the road. It then struck another stationary vehicle that was waiting at the red light. This second car was occupied by Sourabh Jain.

The impact of the collisions was severe. Jaspal Puri's new car was completely wrecked, according to the complaint. The other vehicle involved also sustained heavy damage. The incident left a scene of major vehicular destruction at the busy intersection.

Legal Action and Demands

Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against Inspector Charanjit Singh. The charges have been filed under Sections 281, 125(A), and 324(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

In his complaint, Jaspal Puri has demanded strict legal action against the accused police officer. He has also called for an immediate medical examination of the inspector to confirm the alleged influence of alcohol during the accident. The case, registered on December 14, has come to public attention recently.
