Panchkula: The Panchkula traffic police issued 133 challans and impounded four auto-rickshaws during a special enforcement drive in the Kalka-Pinjore area to curb illegal parking and ease road congestion.
Enforcement Details
The operation targeted major intersections, traffic signals, and busy roadside stretches where illegally parked vehicles were obstructing traffic and increasing accident risks. Out of the 133 penalties issued to violators, 105 were generated online while 28 were issued manually.
Focus on Public Transport
Special focus was placed on public transport operators during the drive, resulting in seven auto-rickshaw drivers being challaned for various traffic violations and four vehicles being impounded for serious offences.
Educational Component
Alongside enforcement, police personnel used the campaign to educate commuters, instructing drivers to utilise designated parking zones and avoid leaving vehicles near intersections or traffic signals.
Official Statement
Deputy commissioner of police Amrinder Singh said, “Illegally parked vehicles not only disrupt traffic movement but also increase the risk of accidents.” He added that similar enforcement drives would continue in the future to ensure safe traffic management across the district.
