Indore: What started as a minor altercation over an accidental shove while eating pani puri near the bus stand area in Burhanpur escalated into a violent confrontation. A youth allegedly arrived at a shop armed with a sword and an air gun, assaulting the owner. The incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in and around the shop. Police have registered a case and arrested the youth.
Details of the Incident
According to police, the incident took place around 8:30 pm on Friday near Hotel Panchvati. Aman Mahajan, who runs a photocopy shop, had an argument with Vijay Verma, a resident of the bus stand area, after the two reportedly got into a dispute over a minor collision while eating pani puri. Though the verbal exchange appeared to have ended at the spot, tension remained.
Police said that sometime later, Vijay allegedly returned to Aman’s shop carrying a sword in one hand and an air gun in the other. Aman was not present at the shop at that time, and Vijay reportedly waited nearby for him to return.
Confrontation and Arrest
When Aman reached the shop, Vijay tried to intimidate him by brandishing the weapons. The argument soon escalated into a physical confrontation, during which Aman sustained an injury on his hand. The incident triggered panic among people in the vicinity before bystanders intervened and prevented the situation from worsening.
Kotwali police station in-charge Neeta Dearwal said that a person carrying a sword-like weapon had reached the shop and created disturbance. An FIR was registered and Vijay was arrested from his residence.
