Paratwada Sex Abuse Scandal: Police Form 47-Member SIT, Arrest Four Accused
Police action intensified significantly on Wednesday in the disturbing Paratwada sex abuse and viral videos case, with authorities constituting a substantial 47-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) and arresting three additional accused. This brings the total number of arrests to four since the scandal first came to light, marking a crucial escalation in the investigation.
Expanded Arrests and Police Custody
All individuals currently held in connection with the case, which has its epicenter in Paratwada, have been remanded in police custody until April 21. Police sources indicate that two more suspects are under active surveillance and likely to face arrest in the coming days. The newly formed SIT is being led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Shubham Kumar and comprises ten police officers along with thirty-six personnel specially drafted from the crime branch and cyber cell divisions.
Details of the Accused and Their Alleged Crimes
The intensified police response comes just one day after the arrest of the alleged key mastermind, 19-year-old Ayan Ahmed, as investigators broaden their probe to track down accomplices and unravel the extensive circulation network of the illicit videos. According to police allegations, the accused systematically lured numerous women, many of whom were minors, into relationships before sexually exploiting them in a rented room located in Amravati city.
The accused reportedly recorded approximately one hundred obscene videos during these exploitative encounters, which were subsequently circulated across various social media platforms, causing widespread distress and outrage.
Latest Arrests and Evidence Collection
Police officials confirmed that besides the alleged kingpin Ayan Ahmed, who was apprehended on Tuesday, three other individuals were taken into custody on Wednesday. Those arrested include Uzair Khan Iqbal Khan, Mohd Saad Mohd Sabir, and Tarbez Khan Tasleem Khan, all accused of actively participating in the circulation of the obscene video content.
Vishal Anand, Superintendent of Police for Amravati, revealed that investigators have seized multiple electronic devices during their ongoing probe. "We now have around ten mobile phones in our possession, which will be sent for comprehensive forensic examination," Anand stated, highlighting the technical dimension of the investigation.
Victim Identification and Support Efforts
Through their established informer networks, police have successfully identified eight survivors who appeared in the viral videos. "We are working diligently on tracing more victims," Anand explained. "Through our dedicated women staff members, we have contacted the families of the survivors and earnestly requested them to come forward."
Authorities have assured complete confidentiality for any statements provided by victims, emphasizing that the investigation will progress more effectively as more individuals step forward. Families have been informed that meetings can be arranged at neutral venues or locations of their choosing, where women officers in civilian attire will be available to record statements sensitively.
Cyber Operations and Broader Investigation
The cyber cell has already taken decisive action by removing several Telegram channels where the viral videos were being circulated. A police officer involved in the operation noted, "We are constantly identifying and deleting online sources of this content to prevent further dissemination."
Investigators are also examining whether any victims might be missing or if any suicide cases could be linked to this scandal, which could potentially lead to additional charges being filed. "That is precisely why it's critically important for victims to come forward and share their experiences with us," Anand emphasized. "Then we can incorporate more sections in the First Information Report or expand the overall scope of our investigation appropriately."
