Ahmedabad: A seemingly trivial disagreement over accompanying someone to a parked vehicle allegedly spiraled into a premeditated revenge killing in Sanathal village on Sunday night. According to the Changodar police, the accused reportedly summoned the victim to his home under the guise of reconciliation before fatally stabbing him.
Details of the Incident
The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Devendrasinh Chauhan. The incident occurred around 8 pm in the Thakorvas area of Sanathal village. The police stated that the altercation originated earlier in the day during a wedding ceremony in Santej village, Gandhinagar district. Devendrasinh and his companions had traveled to the wedding venue in an SUV.
After the wedding concluded, Devendrasinh asked Bharat Thakor to accompany him to the outskirts of the village, where he had parked his vehicle. Bharat allegedly refused, leading to a heated exchange between the two. Although the argument appeared to subside, the police said the accused harbored a grudge and later telephoned Devendrasinh, claiming he wanted to resolve the conflict.
The Murder
Jagmohansinh Chauhan, the deceased's cousin, filed the complaint. According to the complaint, Devendrasinh, along with friends Karan Thakor and another acquaintance, went to the accused's house in Thakorvas after receiving repeated phone calls urging a "settlement." As soon as Devendrasinh entered the house, Chehar Thakor and Bharat allegedly pinned him down and stabbed him multiple times in the chest and other body parts. The complainant alleged that other family members of Bharat also beat and kicked the victim while the stabbing continued.
When Jagmohansinh attempted to intervene, Bharat allegedly attacked him with a knife, causing minor injuries. Jagmohan stated that he grabbed Bharat by the hair while trying to pull him away from Devendrasinh, resulting in Bharat's wig falling off near the doorway. However, Bharat continued his assault. Hearing the victim's screams, villagers gathered at the house, but the accused managed to flee the scene.
Aftermath and Investigation
An ambulance team later declared Devendrasinh dead at the scene. The Changodar police arrested the accused and stated that a further investigation is underway. As a precautionary measure, security has been deployed in the village, though officials confirmed that the situation remains peaceful. Police are examining the crime scene and will record statements from witnesses.
