Retired Teacher Brutally Murdered in Patna Home
A shocking crime unfolded in Patna on Saturday morning. Police discovered the body of a 78-year-old retired teacher inside her residence. The victim, identified as Madhavi Devi, had her throat slit in a brutal attack.
Gruesome Discovery in AG Colony
The incident occurred at house number C-71 in AG Colony under the Shastri Nagar police station area. A woman tenant living in the house first spotted the body. She immediately contacted Madhavi Devi's daughter to report the tragic discovery.
Madhavi Devi lived alone in the house. Her husband, Amrendra Kumar Das, had passed away in 2023. He previously worked as an officer in the Accountant General's office before retiring in 2008.
Police Investigation Details
SDPO-II Saket Kumar rushed to the scene with his team upon receiving information about the crime. The police recovered the body and sent it for postmortem examination.
"The police immediately arrived after receiving information about a crime incident," said SDPO-II Saket Kumar. "We found the woman's body lying on the floor of her room with her throat slit."
Investigators ruled out burglary as a motive. Nothing appeared stolen from the house. The criminals reportedly broke into the residence and attacked the elderly woman with a knife. Initial examination revealed multiple stab wounds on her body.
Family Background and Tenant Questioning
Madhavi Devi's daughter runs a dance class from the house but was not present during the incident. Her eldest son works as a professor in Dehradun. The second son holds an executive position at a multinational bank in Delhi.
City SP (Central) in charge Vaibhav Sharma confirmed police were questioning the tenant and other family members. "The tenants have keys to the main gate," Sharma explained. "There was no other entry point for the accused except through that gate."
Police seized CCTV footage from cameras installed at the house. They also collected some documents as part of their investigation. A forensic team gathered evidence from the crime scene.
SIT Formed for Technical Scrutiny
Patna IG Jitendra Rana announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team. "The SIT has inspected the spot," Rana stated. "All investigation points will undergo technical scrutiny."
The case continues to develop as authorities pursue multiple lines of inquiry. Police are examining all available evidence to identify those responsible for this brutal crime against an elderly retired teacher.
