Patna: Elder Brother Allegedly Murders Younger Sibling Over Suspected Affair with Wife
A shocking incident of fratricide has rocked a village in Patna district, where a 19-year-old youth was allegedly stabbed to death by his elder brother late on Thursday night. The tragic event occurred in Lodipur Daniyalpur village under the jurisdiction of the Khusrupur police station.
Background of the Family Dispute
According to police officials, the murder was driven by deep-seated suspicion regarding an illicit relationship between the victim and the wife of the accused. The deceased, identified as Shailesh Ravidas, had recently returned to his village from Delhi, where he worked as a labourer, specifically to attend a neighbour's wedding ceremony.
Police investigations reveal that tensions had been simmering for approximately two months prior to the fatal incident. It is alleged that Shailesh had eloped with his sister-in-law during this period, an act that severely angered his elder brother, Shatrughan Ravidas. This past event created a volatile atmosphere within the family, setting the stage for the subsequent tragedy.
The Fatal Altercation
On the night of the murder, the family was actively engaged in preparations for the upcoming wedding festivities. Amidst these activities, a heated argument erupted between the two brothers, reigniting the unresolved conflict from two months earlier. The verbal confrontation quickly escalated into physical violence.
During the altercation, Shatrughan Ravidas allegedly attacked his younger brother with a sharp weapon, stabbing him multiple times in the abdominal region. The assault was brutal and left Shailesh critically injured on the spot.
Aftermath and Police Response
Family members, witnessing the horrific scene, immediately rushed the bleeding victim to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for emergency medical treatment. Despite the efforts of healthcare professionals, Shailesh succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Medical authorities attributed his death to excessive blood loss from the stab wounds.
Following the incident, the accused, Shatrughan Ravidas, fled the village and is currently absconding. Khusrupur Station House Officer Sanjeev Kumar Singh confirmed that a formal case of murder has been registered against Shatrughan. "Raids are being conducted at possible hideouts to apprehend him. Our investigation is ongoing to uncover all details surrounding this tragic family dispute," stated SHO Singh.
The police are actively pursuing leads and conducting searches in the area to locate and arrest the accused. The community remains in shock over the violent turn of events that has torn a family apart.
