Patna Doctor's Residence Targeted in Brazen Armed Robbery

In a shocking late-night incident that has sent ripples through the community, over five armed robbers invaded the residence of a prominent neurosurgeon in Patna's Agamkuan police station area. The criminals took multiple family members hostage before making off with jewellery, cash, and other valuables estimated to be worth more than ₹5 lakh. The terrifying ordeal unfolded in the early hours of Friday, leaving the victims traumatized and injured.

Family Held at Gunpoint During Terrifying Ordeal

According to detailed accounts from the victims, the harrowing incident occurred around 2 AM when the armed assailants arrived in a sports utility vehicle. The criminals scaled the boundary wall of the doctor's residence and forcibly entered the premises. Their first target was the ground-floor room occupied by Dr. Himanshu Kumar's elderly parents, Sharda Devi and Indradeo Prasad.

The elderly couple attempted to resist the intrusion, but the robbers responded with brutal violence. They held both seniors at gunpoint and physically assaulted them using pistol butts, causing significant injuries. Indradeo Prasad suffered serious damage near his teeth, while Sharda Devi sustained a painful shoulder injury from the attack.

Neurosurgeon and Microbiologist Couple Also Threatened

Hearing the desperate screams of his parents, Dr. Himanshu Kumar—a respected neurosurgeon at a reputed private hospital—rushed downstairs with his wife, Dr. Subi Sharan, who works as a microbiologist. Unfortunately, they too found themselves facing the barrel of guns as the criminals expanded their hostage situation.

"The attackers escaped with gold and diamond jewellery worth approximately ₹5 lakh that Dr. Sharan was wearing at the time," the traumatized couple revealed in their statement to authorities. The robbers specifically targeted Dr. Sharan's personal jewellery before fleeing the scene, leaving the family shaken but physically intact compared to the injured elderly parents.

Police Investigation and Medical Aftermath

The injured parents required immediate medical attention and were promptly admitted to a hospital for treatment of their wounds. Meanwhile, the Agamkuan police station received a formal complaint about the incident on Friday morning and launched a comprehensive investigation.

Law enforcement officials reached the crime scene promptly after being notified and began collecting evidence. Agamkuan Station House Officer Neeraj Kumar Pandey provided crucial details about the investigation progress: "Four suspects were clearly captured on the home's CCTV camera footage. Our forensic experts and dog squad teams have collected substantial evidence from the crime scene. We are currently conducting intensive raids to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in this heinous crime."

The police have emphasized that the CCTV footage provides clear visual evidence of four perpetrators, though witness accounts suggest more than five individuals participated in the coordinated robbery. The investigation continues as authorities work to track down the armed criminals responsible for this violent home invasion that has raised serious security concerns among Patna's professional community.
