Patna DSP's Car Hit by Sand Truck in Bihta, Driver Arrested

In a shocking incident that unfolded in the Bihta area of Patna district on Tuesday, Danapur DSP-II Amarendra Kumar Jha had a narrow escape when a sand-laden truck driver made a deliberate attempt to crush his official vehicle. The dramatic sequence of events began at approximately 2 pm on the Domania railway overbridge, located within the jurisdiction of the Bihta police station.

Tragic Chain of Events Unfolds

The truck, bearing a registration number from Jharkhand, first struck a motorcycle with tremendous force, dragging the rider under its wheels. The victim, identified as Arvind Singh from Bhojpur district, screamed for help but tragically succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Panicked by the fatal accident, the driver accelerated in a desperate bid to flee the scene, setting off a dangerous chain reaction.

DSP's Vehicle Becomes Target

During his reckless escape attempt, the truck driver collided with another vehicle before crashing head-on into DSP Amarendra Kumar Jha's official car. At the time of the incident, the DSP was traveling to Bihta accompanied by his bodyguard. Miraculously, neither the senior police officer nor his security personnel sustained any injuries in the violent collision, though the impact was severe enough to entangle the DSP's vehicle with the truck.

Massive Traffic Disruption and Police Response

The entangled vehicles remained stuck on the busy road for nearly three hours, creating a massive traffic jam that paralyzed movement in the area. Police personnel and local residents worked tirelessly with considerable effort to finally free the DSP's vehicle from the wreckage. Law enforcement from multiple police stations, including Bihta, responded swiftly upon receiving information about the incident.

Arrests and Investigation

Police successfully apprehended the truck driver, identified as Neeraj Kumar, along with his helper Sudhir Kumar. Both individuals are residents of the Maner police station area. Authorities seized all vehicles involved in the incident and sent the deceased biker's body to a government hospital for postmortem examination.

Bihta Station House Officer Amit Kumar provided details about the incident, stating, "The truck was coming from Amhara and heading toward Bihta chowk after loading sand. It first hit a bike rider, who died on the spot. In an attempt to escape, it subsequently hit another vehicle before striking the DSP's official vehicle. We have arrested both the driver and helper, and further investigation is currently underway."

The incident has raised serious concerns about road safety and the transportation of construction materials in the region. Police are investigating whether the truck was overloaded or if there were other contributing factors to the driver's reckless behavior that led to one death and endangered the life of a senior police officer.
