Patna Cyber Police Nab Man for Alleged Child Pornography Offenses
In a significant crackdown on digital crime, the Patna cyber police have arrested a 34-year-old man from Paliganj in Patna district. The accused, identified as Nitish Kishor Kaushal, is alleged to have been involved in storing, uploading, and sharing child pornographic content across multiple digital platforms. This arrest underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat online exploitation and protect vulnerable minors.
Technical Surveillance Leads to Arrest
Patna Cyber DSP Nitish Chandra Dhariya announced on Saturday that technical surveillance played a crucial role in identifying Kaushal's involvement with illegal material. Acting on this lead, a special police team conducted a raid at his location, detained him, and performed an on-the-spot examination of his cellphone. Several videos containing explicit child-related material were recovered from the device, according to the DSP.
Following a detailed technical analysis, Kaushal was formally arrested and produced before a court on the same day. Investigators traced multiple Telegram channels and groups from the seized phone, which were allegedly used for sharing, uploading, downloading, and storing the objectionable content. While child sexual abuse material was confirmed on the device, police are verifying whether any minors were directly involved in the incidents.
Ongoing Investigation and Legal Implications
Dhariya added that a technical report generated from the handset, dating back to 2023, has been obtained and is under examination. This report contains detailed information about the phone's usage and the nature of content accessed and shared. Kaushal, who was engaged in private local employment, has been taken into judicial custody. Police emphasized that under Indian law, the storage, transmission, or creation of child pornography is a serious cognizable offense that attracts stringent punishment.
In a public appeal, DSP Dhariya urged citizens to act responsibly. If anyone receives such content, they must immediately delete it and inform the local police, he stated, warning that even forwarding or storing such material can lead to strict legal action. This case highlights the importance of vigilance and cooperation in combating cyber crimes against children.
