Patna Police Arrests 2 in Stolen Phone, Drug Injection Racket

In a significant crackdown on illegal trade, the Parsa Bazaar police in Patna have successfully apprehended two individuals involved in a dual racket of stolen mobile phones and banned pharmaceutical injections. The operation was launched based on a specific tip-off received by the authorities.

Raid in Etwarpur Village Nets Accused and Contraband

Acting swiftly on the received intelligence, a police team conducted a targeted raid in Etwarpur village. During this operation, the police arrested two youths, identified as Ganesh Kumar and Deepu Kumar. A thorough search of their possession led to the recovery of substantial evidence linking them to illicit activities.

The seized items from the accused include:

  • 18 stolen mobile phones
  • Four Bluetooth devices
  • Cash amounting to Rs 55,780
  • 39 vials of the banned Avil injection

Modus Operandi of the Accused Duo

City SP (East) Parichay Kumar provided details about the criminal operations run by the arrested duo. According to the senior officer, Ganesh Kumar and Deepu Kumar were primarily involved in stealing mobile phones from trains and railway stations. They would then sell these stolen devices at throwaway prices across the city and nearby areas.

"They used to sell stolen mobile phones for amounts ranging between Rs 500 and Rs 5,000," stated SP Parichay Kumar, highlighting how the low prices facilitated quick sales and attracted buyers.

In addition to the phone theft ring, the accused were actively engaged in the illegal distribution of prescription drugs. They were selling the banned Avil injections for Rs 50 to Rs 100 per vial in the locality, posing a serious public health risk.

Police Probe Aims to Uncover Wider Network

The arrest of the two individuals is seen as a crucial first step in dismantling a larger organized network. The police have not ruled out the possibility of more people being involved in this interconnected racket of theft and illegal drug trade.

"Further investigation is underway to identify and arrest other members of the gang," confirmed SP Kumar. The Patna Police are now delving deeper into the supply chain, trying to trace the source of the banned injections and the channels used to sell the stolen phones, to ensure a comprehensive crackdown.

This successful raid by the Parsa Bazaar police underscores the department's focus on curbing street-level crimes that directly impact citizen safety and security. The recovery of stolen property and controlled substances is expected to bring relief to the affected areas.
