In a tragic incident stemming from a long-standing feud, a 40-year-old man was stabbed to death, and his son sustained injuries in an attack that occurred late Sunday night in Arap village. The village falls under the jurisdiction of the Bikram police station area in the Paliganj subdivision of Patna district, Bihar.

According to local sources, the conflict erupted between two individuals: Golu Kumar and 45-year-old Saryug Sharma. The dispute centered on the setup of vegetable shops, a petty issue that had been simmering for some time. On Sunday night, this disagreement escalated into a violent altercation.

In a fit of rage, Saryug Sharma allegedly attacked Golu Kumar with a knife. To save his life, Golu fled to his house, but Saryug pursued him. When Golu's father, Ramakant Paswan, intervened to protect his son, he was reportedly stabbed multiple times by Saryug. The accused then fled the scene after committing the crime.

Victim Succumbs to Injuries Despite Medical Efforts

Ramakant Paswan was rushed to a nearby primary health center for emergency treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his severe injuries, leaving the family and community in shock and mourning.

Police Swiftly Arrest Accused, Recover Weapon

Bikram police station in-charge Prabhat Kumar provided details on the law enforcement response. "On the complaint of Ramakant's family, the police conducted a raid and arrested Saryug Sharma along with the knife used in the attack. He was forwarded to jail on Monday," Kumar stated.

He further explained, "The altercation took place between the two over some petty issue, which escalated on Sunday night, leading to the death of a person. The forensic team was called to the spot to gather evidence. The body was sent to a government hospital for postmortem, and further investigation is underway."

Villagers Stage Protest, Demand Strict Action

Following the incident, grieving family members and villagers expressed their outrage by staging a protest on Monday morning. They blocked NH-139, causing significant traffic disruptions on the highway. The protesters demanded strict action and even called for the death penalty for the accused. Police officials managed to pacify the crowd by assuring them of swift and decisive legal proceedings.

This case highlights the severe consequences of unresolved local disputes and underscores the importance of community mediation and prompt police intervention to prevent such tragedies.
