Patna Shopkeeper Attacked in Violent Dispute Over Suspected Bird Flu Chickens

A shocking incident of violence erupted in the Chitragupta Nagar area of Patna on Monday, stemming from a dispute over chickens suspected to be infected with bird flu. Shopkeeper Mohammad Arman reported that he was assaulted and robbed of Rs 5,700 after objecting to the delivery of poultry that began dying shortly after being supplied.

Details of the Incident Near Rajendra Nagar Market

The altercation occurred near the Rajendra Nagar Hariyali vegetable market. According to Arman, the poultry dealer delivered the chickens in the morning, but within approximately half an hour, the birds started dying one after another. "My staff was at the shop during the delivery and immediately informed me. When I reached, I saw the chickens dying. I contacted the dealer and told him we don’t want any chickens that might have bird flu. All the ones supplied appeared infected. This made him furious," Arman stated.

Assault and Theft Following the Dispute

Arman alleged that the dealer soon returned with four or five associates on two bikes. They reportedly snatched Rs 5,700 from his pocket and assaulted him when he resisted. The attackers hit him on the head with sharp objects, causing a serious injury. The commotion attracted nearby shopkeepers, forcing the assailants to flee the scene.
