Patna teen rescued, 3 kidnappers arrested in 5-hour op

In a display of remarkable efficiency, the Patna Police successfully rescued a 17-year-old student within just five hours of his abduction on Saturday. The swift and well-coordinated operation also led to the arrest of three alleged kidnappers who had demanded a hefty ransom for the boy's release.

The Abduction and Ransom Demand

The victim, identified as Ajit Kumar, a BA student and son of Naresh Rai, resides in Goripundha, Fatuha. The incident began on Saturday morning when Ajit left his home to visit a library for his studies. By 4 PM, his mother, Anita Devi, received a terrifying call from an unknown number. The caller informed her that her son had been kidnapped and issued a stark demand: a ransom of Rs 5 lakh for his safe return. The kidnappers threatened to kill Ajit if the money was not paid.

Swift Police Action and Technical Tracking

Acting immediately on the threat, Anita Devi filed a formal written complaint at the Fatuha police station that same evening. Deputy Superintendent of Police (I) Awadhesh Kumar took the matter with utmost seriousness. He constituted a special police team under his direct supervision to handle the case.

"The team, which included sub-inspector Shubham Kumar and other officers, started a technical investigation and tracked the tower location of the mobile number used to make the ransom call," DSP Awadhesh Kumar explained. This crucial step allowed the police to zero in on the perpetrators' location rapidly.

Successful Raid and Arrests

Leveraging the technical intelligence, the police team pinpointed the location to the Sonaru Bagicha area under Fatuha police station limits. In a well-planned raid conducted within five hours of the First Information Report (FIR) being lodged, the officers stormed the hideout. They successfully rescued Ajit Kumar unharmed and apprehended all three accused from the spot.

The police recovered two motorcycles and two cellphones from the arrested individuals. The kidnappers have been named as Aditya Kumar and Vikas Kumar, both residents of Manjhauli, and Akhilesh Mistry from Sonaru Bagicha.

"The police are interrogating the kidnappers and taking further legal action against them," stated DSP Kumar. "They claimed that they did not know the victim and had kidnapped him from a shop. We are further investigating their motive behind the kidnapping and whether they were involved in similar incidents previously."

The entire operation stands as a testament to the prompt response and effective use of technology by the Patna Police, ensuring the safe return of a young student to his family and bringing the culprits to justice.
