Patna Woman Fatally Stabbed in Alleged One-Sided Love Incident; Teenage Daughter Injured
A tragic incident unfolded in the Jakkanpur area of Patna late Saturday evening, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old woman and injuries to her teenage daughter. The attack, which police suspect stems from a case of one-sided love, has sent shockwaves through the local community.
Details of the Fatal Attack
The deceased has been identified as Munni Devi, wife of Santosh Kumar. According to police reports, the accused, a neighbor named Raja, arrived at the woman's house around 4 a.m. on Saturday armed with a knife. He proceeded to stab Munni Devi repeatedly. Her 17-year-old daughter, who was present at home, attempted to intervene and was also stabbed during the altercation.
The injured daughter, currently undergoing treatment at a hospital, provided a harrowing account to the police. "I was present at home with my mother. Around 4 a.m., a neighbor Raja came and started stabbing my mother. When I tried to intervene, he stabbed me too. I started screaming. People from the neighbourhood began rushing towards our house, and by then Raja fled," she stated.
Police Investigation and Motive
Sadar SDPO-II, Ranjan Kumar, elaborated on the suspected motive behind the attack. "The accused Raja used to frequently visit the deceased’s house. For the past one week, the children had not allowed him to come to the house. This did not go down well with him. On Saturday, he suddenly arrived at the house with a knife and attacked the woman. Raids are being conducted to arrest him," he said.
Police believe the incident is a fallout of one-sided love, with the family having recently barred Raja from visiting. Munni Devi's husband lives away from home, and she managed a snack shop to support the family. Jakkanpur SHO, Rituraj Singh, noted, "No details about the accused, except his name, has been found. Further investigation is on."
Community Response and Medical Care
Neighbors quickly responded to the screams, with Shailesh Kumar recounting, "We took the woman to a private hospital from where the doctor referred her to the PMCH." Despite these efforts, Munni Devi succumbed to her injuries. The community remains on edge as police intensify their search for the fugitive accused.
