A tragic incident occurred in Maini village under Bilsanda police station limits in Pilibhit, where a seven-year-old boy lost his life after falling from a motorcycle onto prohibited barbed and razor-wire fencing erected around an agricultural field. Police reported the incident on Thursday.
Details of the Accident
The deceased, identified as Rajat Maurya, was riding pillion on a motorcycle driven by his 14-year-old cousin, Saurabh. The rider allegedly lost control after hitting a pothole, causing Rajat to fall onto the fencing. He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a community health centre (CHC), where doctors referred him to a higher medical facility in Bareilly. However, he succumbed to his injuries before he could be transferred.
District Administration Responds
District Magistrate Gyanendra Singh took cognisance of the incident and directed officials to investigate the matter. Bisalpur Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nagendra Pandey conducted an inspection, confirming the presence of the prohibited barbed and razor-wire fencing. Singh stated, “The violator of the prohibition order will face legal action. An FIR will be lodged irrespective of whether the victim’s family submits a written complaint.”
Police Investigation
Bilsanda Station House Officer (SHO) Jagdeep Malik said that the family members declined to send the body for a postmortem until the arrival of the child’s father, who works in Gurugram. Police are awaiting the father’s arrival to proceed with the investigation.
Legal Implications
The use of barbed and razor-wire fencing is prohibited in the area, and authorities are determined to take strict action against the violator. The district magistrate has assured that legal proceedings will be initiated promptly.
