In a shocking incident from Pilibhit's Bisalpur town, a 60-year-old man has been formally charged for allegedly attempting to rape his 25-year-old daughter-in-law, while his son faces legal action for assaulting her upon learning of the event. The case, which has sent ripples through the community, was registered based on a written complaint filed by the woman on Sunday evening, detailing an alleged attack that occurred in December of last year.

The complainant, who resides with her two young children while her husband works in Bareilly, recounted a harrowing ordeal. She alleged that on December 17 last year, at approximately 1 am, her father-in-law forcibly entered her home. After tearing a window curtain, he reportedly tricked her into opening the door under the guise of an "important discussion." Once inside, the accused is said to have held a knife to her throat and attempted to rape her.
The woman's screams allegedly woke her children, prompting the accused to flee the scene. Before leaving, he reportedly threatened her with dire consequences if she reported the matter to the authorities. In a further twist, the woman claimed that when her husband learned of the incident, he refused to believe her account and instead physically assaulted her.
Initially, the woman approached the police shortly after the attack, but she asserted that her request to file a First Information Report (FIR) was denied. This denial, she stated, led to a period of severe illness caused by mental shock and acute stress. It was only after submitting a freshly written complaint on Sunday that official action was finally taken by the authorities.
