The woman, identified as Nanhi Devi, a resident of Bithaura Kalan village, passed away on Thursday. She had been admitted to the Autonomous State Medical College with fractured ribs, and police suspect that the injuries caused severe internal damage. The postmortem report is still awaited, according to authorities.

Background of the Incident

According to the victim's mother, Kamala Devi, Nanhi married Naveen Kumar, a laborer, in 2018. Their relationship was strained due to Naveen's drinking habits. Kamala Devi stated, 'My daughter got married to Naveen Kumar in 2018. His drinking habits strained their marital relations, and he used to beat Nanhi almost every day.' On the day of the incident, Nanhi tried to stop her husband from consuming alcohol, which led to the fatal assault.

Legal Action and Investigation

Station House Officer (SHO) Brajveer Singh confirmed that an initial First Information Report (FIR) was registered against Naveen Kumar under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections related to voluntarily causing hurt, intentional insult, and criminal intimidation. Following the woman's death, the police added Section 105 (culpable homicide) to the FIR. The accused is currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace him.
