POCSO Accused Found Dead in Kalaburagi Village After Marrying Minor
In a tragic incident, a man accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was discovered dead in Hulasagod village, Kalagi taluk, Kalaburagi district, on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Revanasiddappa Talakeri, a 26-year-old tomtom driver.
Background of the Case
According to villagers, Talakeri had developed an affair with a minor girl who was a regular passenger in his vehicle. Upon learning about this relationship, his family elders took him to Hyderabad to work as a labourer in an attempt to separate them. However, Talakeri defied this plan and took the girl to Hyderabad, where he married her.
The girl's parents subsequently filed a POCSO case against Talakeri. Since the girl was a minor, he was arrested but had been out on bail for the past two weeks prior to his death.
Discovery of the Body and Allegations
Talakeri was found hanging from a tree on the outskirts of Hulasagod village. While the initial appearance suggests suicide, his family members have raised serious allegations, claiming that he was murdered by the girl's family members. They argue that the circumstances surrounding his death are suspicious and point to foul play.
Police Investigation Underway
The Ratagal police have confirmed that they are actively investigating the case. Authorities are examining all angles, including the possibility of suicide versus homicide, to determine the exact cause of death. The police have not yet released any official statements regarding the family's murder allegations but assure a thorough probe into the matter.
This incident has sparked concern in the local community, highlighting issues related to child protection laws and rural crime. The investigation continues as authorities seek to uncover the truth behind Talakeri's untimely demise.
