Police Encounter Leads to Arrest of Cattle Smugglers
In a significant operation near Varanasi, law enforcement authorities apprehended four individuals involved in cattle smuggling following an armed confrontation. The joint action unfolded on Sunday when Kandhrapur police units coordinated with specialized SWAT team personnel near the Sehda toll tax collection point.
Exchange of Fire and Injuries
The confrontation turned violent when the suspects engaged in an exchange of fire with police teams. During the encounter, one of the accused sustained a bullet injury to his leg. Police officials confirmed that the injured individual received immediate medical attention following his apprehension.
Azamgarh SP Anil Kumar identified the wounded suspect as Parvez from Pataila village. His three associates taken into custody include Anish, Rais and Jalaluddin, all residents of Khutahan in Jaunpur district according to police records.
Evidence and Recovery
Following the arrest operation, police conducted searches and made substantial recoveries from the suspects. The seized items included a transport truck, an SUV vehicle, and 18 live cattle believed to be destined for illegal slaughter. Law enforcement also confiscated a pistol along with multiple cartridges from the accused individuals.
Senior police officials revealed that Parvez had established a lengthy history of involvement in animal slaughter and smuggling operations. The group was actively transporting prohibited animals from Sultanpur to Bihar when police intercepted their vehicle near the toll plaza.
Authorities emphasized that the successful operation demonstrates their continued vigilance against illegal cattle trafficking networks operating in the region. The arrested individuals now face multiple charges related to animal smuggling and armed resistance against law enforcement personnel.
