Anklav Police Conduct Major Raid on Alleged Liquor Party at Anand Farmhouse
In a significant enforcement action, the Anklav police busted an alleged late-night liquor party at a farmhouse near Umeta village in Anand district, booking 20 individuals under Gujarat's strict prohibition laws. The operation, which unfolded between 10:30 PM on April 10 and 12:15 AM on April 11, resulted in the detention of 18 people from the scene, while two others, including the farmhouse owner and a suspected liquor supplier, are currently absconding.
Tip-Off Leads to Coordinated Police Action
Acting on a specific tip-off regarding alcohol consumption at the premises, a police team swiftly mobilized to the location, situated approximately 10 kilometers from the Anklav police station on the Umeta-Fatepura-Manpura road. The team was accompanied by panch witnesses and women police personnel to ensure procedural compliance and thorough documentation.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a group of men and women allegedly consuming alcohol. According to police reports, the gathering consisted of 15 men and three women, who were known to each other as business associates. They had convened at the farmhouse under the guise of a "business party," where liquor was reportedly being served in violation of state laws.
Substantial Seizures and Asset Valuation
During the raid, police confiscated a substantial cache of items, including liquor containers, plastic glasses, food items, and utensils. Notably, the seizure extended to high-value assets, with 22 mobile phones valued at around ₹8.7 lakh and eight four-wheelers estimated at approximately ₹96 lakh. The total value of all seized property has been assessed at an impressive ₹1,04,78,500.
All confiscated materials have been taken into police custody as part of the ongoing investigation. The farmhouse owner is alleged to have permitted the premises to be used for the gathering, while another accused is suspected of arranging the liquor supply, highlighting the organized nature of the event.
Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation
A formal case has been registered under relevant sections of the Gujarat Prohibition Act. Most of the detained individuals are residents of Vadodara, indicating a cross-district element to the incident. Police are actively pursuing the two absconding accused to bring them to justice.
Further investigation is underway to determine the precise source of the liquor and delineate the specific roles of each accused in facilitating the illegal gathering. The raid was executed under the direct guidance of senior Anand district police officials, with a dedicated team comprising officers and women personnel to ensure a comprehensive and lawful operation.
