The timely intervention of Canacona police prevented what could have been a major burglary at the residence of a goldsmith in Chaudi on Monday night. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, coming just days after another major crime in Vasco.
The Night of Terror: How Events Unfolded
Pravin Vernekar, the goldsmith targeted in the attempted robbery, was awakened by the sound of a shutter opening outside his house. "I thought it must be the shutter of my shop, so I immediately called the police," Vernekar recounted. "To my relief, they arrived within no time."
According to police investigations, five to six masked individuals had arrived at the property with clear criminal intent. The suspects took elaborate measures to avoid identification, including spraying the CCTV cameras to prevent detection of their activities.
