Major Security Operation in Kashmir Valley
In a significant security operation, the Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted widespread inspections at multiple mosques and madrassas across Srinagar on Thursday. The raids represent part of an intensified crackdown targeting individuals and networks allegedly connected with terrorist organizations operating in the region.
Details of the Search Operations
According to official statements released by the J&K Police, search teams accompanied by Executive Magistrates and independent witnesses examined several religious premises throughout the city. The primary objective was to collect evidence related to activities described as "terror-linked or radical activities inimical to the security and integrity of the Nation."
During the thorough inspections, authorities examined digital devices, documents, and various other materials that could provide intelligence about potential security threats. The police emphasized that these operations aim to dismantle what they term the "terror support ecosystem" in Srinagar while simultaneously strengthening de-radicalization efforts in the Kashmir Valley.
Connection to Recent Terror Incidents
These security measures follow the November 10 blast near Delhi's Red Fort, which authorities have linked to a terror module that was already under investigation by J&K Police. The investigation has revealed disturbing details, including the recovery of approximately 3,000 kg of explosives-making material from various locations, including Faridabad in Uttar Pradesh.
More tragically, the investigation led to a devastating incident on November 14 when seized explosives detonated during sampling procedures at the Nowgam police station on the outskirts of Srinagar. The explosion resulted in nine fatalities and injuries to 32 people, including officials from the Forensic Scientific Lab who were conducting the examination.
Police investigations have revealed that the terror module allegedly included doctors working at Al Falah Medical College in Faridabad, indicating the sophisticated nature of the network being targeted.
Ongoing Security Measures
The J&K Police have confirmed that similar search operations will continue across the region "wherever credible inputs indicate the presence of individuals or materials linked to terror or radicalised activities prejudicial to the security of the nation."
Since the Red Fort blast, security forces have conducted numerous raids throughout the Kashmir Valley, including targeting affiliates of the Jamaat organization. These measures represent a comprehensive approach to addressing security concerns while maintaining pressure on networks suspected of supporting terrorist activities.
The police statement clarified that the ongoing operations are designed to prevent any conspiratorial or unlawful acts aimed at disturbing peace and public order in the region, which has experienced significant security challenges in recent years.
