Firearm Recovery at Vadodara Bus Depot
The crime branch of Vadodara city police made a significant recovery on Thursday when they discovered a country-made pistol along with live ammunition from a dormitory located at the central bus depot. The operation was conducted based on specific intelligence about illegal weapons being stored at the facility.
Dormitory Raid and Evidence Collection
Acting on a tip-off about a suspicious individual staying at the dormitory with a firearm, police officials immediately swung into action. The information specifically pointed to Kirit Patel, a resident of Umedpur in Idar taluka of Banaskantha district, who had reportedly kept the weapon in a cabinet attached to his bed.
Upon reaching the location, police authorities requested the dormitory staff to open the cabinet for inspection. Inside, they found a bag containing a country-made pistol, a long magazine, 20 live cartridges, and Rs 26,000 in cash. The recovery also included crucial identification evidence - an Aadhaar card belonging to the suspect, Kirit Patel.
Suspect's Criminal Background and Current Manhunt
Police investigations revealed that Patel is not new to legal troubles. Authorities confirmed that two other criminal cases are already registered against him in Ahmedabad and Talod in Sabarkantha district. Additionally, he had previously been convicted in a cheque bounce case by a court in Himmatnagar.
The suspect had reportedly left the dormitory before the police team arrived to conduct the search operation. A massive manhunt has been launched to locate and apprehend Patel, who continues to evade capture despite the compelling evidence recovered from his temporary accommodation.
This incident has raised serious concerns about security arrangements at public transportation facilities and the ease with which individuals can potentially conceal illegal weapons in such spaces. The Vadodara police have intensified their vigilance and are conducting further investigations to determine the intended use of the recovered firearm and possible connections to other criminal activities.
