Muzaffarnagar Police Crack Down on Mosque Loudspeaker Noise Violations
In a significant enforcement action, police in Muzaffarnagar city have removed 74 loudspeakers from mosques and reduced the volume at 40 others for allegedly violating prescribed noise limits under Supreme Court guidelines. The operation was conducted during a focused two-day drive across multiple areas of the city.

According to SP (City) Satyanarayan Prajapat, the action targeted mosques in the Civil Lines, Nagar Kotwali, and Khalapar areas. Police teams carried out the drive on Tuesday and Wednesday, removing the loudspeaker devices and taking them into custody where violations were found. At other locations, authorities ensured that sound levels were brought within permissible norms.
Officials stated that several loudspeakers were being operated above permissible limits, particularly during prayer times, leading to noise pollution concerns in residential neighborhoods. The enforcement aligns with ongoing efforts to maintain public order and adhere to legal standards regarding noise control.
Official Warnings and Continued Monitoring
Muzaffarnagar SSP Sanjay Kumar Verma has issued a stern warning to residents and religious institutions, urging them to strictly adhere to the prescribed noise limits. He emphasized that violations would invite legal action under relevant provisions, and monitoring efforts would continue to ensure compliance.
"Monitoring will continue," SSP Verma stated, highlighting the police department's commitment to enforcing noise regulations consistently.
