Arrests and Identification of the Accused

Four men were apprehended at the scene in connection with the case. They have been identified as:

  • Nazrul Islam Borbhuiya, aged 40, from Rajyeshwarpur
  • Abu Salam Majarbhuiya, aged 30
  • Ibadur Rahman Choudhury, aged 25
  • Imdadur Rahman Choudhury, aged 26, from Borbond in the district

Police officials stated that the accused individuals were unable to produce any valid documentation regarding the source or legal status of the meat during the raids. They were detained immediately and later formally arrested under relevant legal provisions.

Evidence Collection and Scientific Examination

The seized meat was carefully sealed in the presence of independent witnesses to maintain chain of custody. Separate seizure lists were meticulously prepared for both establishments to ensure procedural accuracy.

Samples from the confiscated meat have been dispatched to the district veterinary officer for comprehensive scientific examination. This testing aims to definitively ascertain the nature and composition of the meat. The remaining stock has been securely preserved in a cold storage facility at a government veterinary establishment to prevent deterioration.

Ongoing Investigation and Broader Implications

In addition to the meat seizure, police confiscated four mobile phones from the arrested individuals for further digital forensic analysis. Investigators suspect that beyond the illegal sale of meat, this case may be connected to unlawful slaughter activities operating in the region.

Authorities have indicated that efforts are actively underway to trace and dismantle what they believe could be a larger network involved in such activities. The investigation continues to explore all possible angles and connections.

This developing story underscores ongoing enforcement actions against illegal meat trade in the region, with police maintaining vigilance against activities violating food safety and animal slaughter regulations.
