Police Warn Against Fake Photos in Lynching Case

Bhubaneswar police on Sunday issued a stern warning against individuals circulating fake photographs linked to the recent mob lynching of railway constable Soumya Ranjan Swain in Balianta. Deputy Commissioner of Police Jagmohan Meena stated that law enforcement agencies are actively monitoring social media platforms for any attempts to spread manipulated content.

Arrest Made for Sharing Morphed Image

Approximately ten days ago, police arrested a youth for sharing a morphed photo of the victim and the mob. Despite this action, authorities continue to detect ongoing efforts to circulate false content online. DCP Meena cautioned that those who persist in posting such manipulated images will face strict legal consequences, including arrest.

Impact on Public Order

The DCP emphasized that such acts of deliberate misrepresentation on social media are not only misleading but also capable of provoking public unrest. The police are committed to maintaining law and order and will take stringent measures against anyone attempting to distort facts or incite violence through fake visuals.
