Pratapgarh Police Dismantles Major Methamphetamine Manufacturing Unit in Anti-Narcotics Operation
In a significant crackdown on illegal drug production, Pratapgarh police have successfully busted a methamphetamine (MD) manufacturing unit, seizing chemicals and equipment valued at approximately Rs 50 lakh during a special anti-narcotics drive. The operation, conducted under the direction of senior police officials, marks a critical step in combating drug-related crimes in the region.
Intelligence-Led Operation Uncovers Hidden Chemicals
The action was carried out as part of ‘Operation Trinetra’ by the Arnod police station, based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the concealment of chemicals intended for MD production. A dedicated police team, acting on these leads, conducted a thorough search in a drain area near a graveyard along the Devaldi–Paduni road.
During the search, officers discovered six jerry cans hidden in bushes, containing around 46 kg of various chemicals. The seized substances included MDC, hydrochloric acid, ammonia, bromo, acetone, and MMA, all essential components in the synthesis of methamphetamine.
Seizure of Manufacturing Equipment and Ongoing Investigation
In addition to the chemicals, police confiscated a range of manufacturing equipment used in the illicit operation. The items seized comprised plastic buckets, glass jars, electric heaters, electronic weighing scales, halogen lights, and magnetic stirrers, highlighting the sophisticated nature of the setup.
The operation was executed under the supervision of SP B Aditya and other senior officers, with a team led by SHO Shivlal Meena conducting the raid. Police have identified the primary accused as Arbaaz, a resident of Devaldi village, who is currently absconding.
Legal Action and Future Steps
A formal case has been registered at the Arnod police station, and intensive efforts are underway to trace and apprehend Arbaaz. Authorities are also delving deeper into the investigation to uncover potential links to a larger drug network, aiming to dismantle any associated criminal activities.
This bust underscores the proactive measures taken by law enforcement to address the growing threat of drug manufacturing and distribution. The successful seizure not only disrupts local drug production but also sends a strong message against such illegal enterprises in the area.
