Pratapgarh Police Freeze Rs 70 Lakh Assets of Drug Smuggler

Udaipur: In a decisive move against narcotics trafficking, Pratapgarh police have frozen properties worth approximately Rs 70 lakh linked to a smuggler, allegedly acquired through the proceeds of illegal drug trade, officials confirmed on Friday.

Operation Trinetra Action

The action was carried out under Operation Trinetra, a statewide initiative targeting the financial networks of drug traffickers. Police officials stated that this was the first instance in the district where assets of a drug courier had been frozen under Section 68-F(1) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The operation was conducted on the directives of Director General of Police Rajiv Kumar Sharma and under the supervision of Pratapgarh Superintendent of Police B Aditya.

Arrest and Seizure

According to police, Narayan Lal Meena, 48, a resident of Faredi village, was arrested on February 21, 2026, after officers seized 2.7 kg of brown sugar and 1.7 kg of a substance allegedly used for adulterating the drug. The seizure occurred during a blockade operation, following which a case was registered at Arnod police station.

Investigation and Frozen Assets

A subsequent investigation revealed that Meena had allegedly acquired assets using proceeds from the smuggling of MD, brown sugar, and poppy husk. Police froze a house in Faredi valued at around Rs 60 lakh and a Mahindra TUV vehicle worth approximately Rs 10 lakh.

Earlier Action Against Supplier

Police added that assets linked to the alleged supplier in the same case, Usman Khan Pathan of Devaldi village, were earlier frozen. The properties, allegedly created in the names of his mother and brother, included a house, a farmhouse, two SUVs, livestock, and other assets collectively valued at about Rs 2.78 crore.

Continued Crackdown

Officials said Operation Trinetra will continue to target the financial networks of those involved in narcotics trafficking and others found supporting the illegal trade. This move sends a strong message to drug peddlers that their ill-gotten wealth will be seized.
