Tragic Family Suicide Pact in Fatehpur Village
In a heart-wrenching incident, the blood-soaked bodies of three family members were discovered inside their residence in Chauferava village, Fatehpur district, on Wednesday evening. The deceased have been identified as Sushila Srivastava (55), her son Amar Srivastava (28), and her brother-in-law Sunil Kumar Srivastava (54). Police officials confirmed the grim discovery, which has sent shockwaves through the local community.
Gruesome Scene and Evidence Found
Preliminary investigations by authorities point toward a possible suicide pact driven by severe financial difficulties. All three victims sustained deep wounds on their necks and had slit wrists, indicating a coordinated and tragic end. At the scene, investigators recovered three empty pouches of aluminium phosphide, commonly referred to as sulphas, along with four blood-stained blades from the room where the bodies were found.
A suicide note, reportedly penned by Amar Srivastava, has emerged as a crucial piece of evidence. The note suggests that the family resorted to this extreme measure due to threats of being falsely implicated under the SC-ST Act in connection with a financial transaction. This allegation adds a layer of complexity to the case, prompting further scrutiny from law enforcement.
Discovery by Family Member
Additional Director General of Police (Prayagraj Zone) Jyoti Narayan provided detailed insights into the sequence of events. Sushila's husband, Sushil Kumar Srivastava (58), who works as a driver, had visited his daughter's house earlier that day. Upon returning home, he found the main gate locked from the inside. After receiving no response to his calls, he alerted neighbors, who assisted in forcing open the gate using an iron rod.
"Inside, they discovered the bodies of Sushila and Amar, while Sunil was critically injured," ADG Narayan stated. Police immediately rushed Sunil to the district hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The father has since verified that the handwriting in the suicide note matches his son's, and he acknowledged that the family had been grappling with financial hardship for an extended period.
Ongoing Investigation and Verification
The ADG emphasized that the exact sequence of events will become clearer following the completion of postmortem and forensic reports. "We are also meticulously verifying the allegations mentioned in the suicide note regarding the SC-ST Act threats," he added, underscoring the thoroughness of the ongoing probe. Authorities are leaving no stone unturned to understand the full context and motivations behind this devastating incident.
This tragedy highlights the severe pressures faced by families in distress and raises critical questions about mental health support and legal safeguards in rural communities. As the investigation progresses, more details are expected to emerge, shedding light on the circumstances that led to such a desperate act.
