Tragic Highway Accident in Prayagraj Claims Lives of Two Young Men

In a devastating incident on the Ayodhya-Prayagraj national highway, two youths lost their lives and three others sustained injuries after an out-of-control SUV collided with their motorcycle late Thursday night. The accident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Mauaima police station area in Prayagraj, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Details of the Fatal Collision

According to police reports, the SUV was traveling from Pratapgarh when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The SUV first crashed into a highway divider before violently colliding with a motorcycle carrying two young men. The impact was so severe that the SUV subsequently fell into a roadside ditch. Police officials have confirmed that they have seized the vehicle and initiated an intensive search operation to apprehend the driver, who fled the scene immediately after the accident.

Victims Identified and Their Backgrounds

The victims have been identified as Neeraj, aged 20, and Sachin, aged 21. Tragically, Neeraj died at the accident scene, while Sachin succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a hospital. Three other individuals—Deepu (20), Arjun (24), and Pawan (18)—were injured in the collision and have been admitted to a medical facility for treatment.

Family members revealed heartbreaking details about the deceased. Sachin was actively preparing for competitive examinations, showcasing his aspirations for a brighter future. Neeraj, the youngest of three brothers, was a Class 12 student at Swami Vivekanand Inter College in Soraon. His father works as a daily-wage labourer, while his brothers are employed in Delhi. The two friends were traveling to Shahbazpur in Mauaima to attend a friend's wedding when the tragedy struck.

Separate Accident Claims Life of Student

In an unrelated but equally tragic incident, a 16-year-old student lost his life and two others were injured near Garhwa Fort under the Shankargarh police station limits on Friday. The students were on their way to appear for their High School examinations when the accident occurred.

Police stated that three students from Maa Shivkumari Inter College in Lalapur were traveling on a motorcycle to their exam centre at Dr Kailash Nath Inter College in Naudiya Uparhar, Shankargarh. As they approached Garhwa (Ramna), their motorcycle collided with another bike coming from the opposite direction.

Shiv Kumar, aged 16, sustained critical injuries in the collision. He was transported to a nearby hospital but tragically passed away during the journey. The two other injured students received primary medical treatment and were subsequently discharged.

Community in Mourning and Police Investigation

The back-to-back accidents have left the Prayagraj community in deep mourning, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety on national highways. Police authorities are continuing their investigation into both incidents, with particular focus on locating the fleeing SUV driver from the Thursday night collision. The incidents serve as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of road safety measures.
