Prayagraj Police Crackdown Nets Murder Suspect with Rs 50,000 Reward
In a significant law enforcement operation, a joint team from the Nawabganj police and the Special Task Force (Kanpur unit) apprehended Parmesh Kumar Patel (43) of Salon, Rae Bareli, on Sunday. Patel was a wanted fugitive in connection with a brutal murder case and had been evading authorities since February.
High-Profile Arrest in Property Dispute Murder
Police officials confirmed that Patel was accused of killing a woman in Wahidganj village, with the crime stemming from a property dispute. He was carrying a cash reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, highlighting the severity of the charges against him. Investigations revealed that Patel has a staggering total of 10 criminal cases pending against him across various police stations in Pratapgarh and Rae Bareli districts, underscoring his extensive criminal history.
Simultaneous Extortion Bust in Kohdaur
In a separate but coordinated action, the Kohdaur police arrested four individuals identified as Neeraj Yadav, Abhishek Gautram, Shubham Gautam, and Ansh Maurya. These suspects, residents of Pratapgarh and Amethi, were taken into custody for alleged involvement in extortion activities. During the arrest, law enforcement officers seized four crude bombs, two motorcycles equipped with fake registration numbers, and three mobile phones from their possession, providing crucial evidence for the case.
Obscene Video Case Leads to Arrests in Fatehpur
Meanwhile, the Fatehpur police made another breakthrough by arresting Kuldeep (29) and Kamal (19), both residents of Hari Ka Muzra. The duo faced serious charges for filming and circulating an obscene video on social media platforms. According to police reports, a woman had accused both individuals of raping her and subsequently uploading a video of the act online. They have been booked under multiple legal provisions, including section 65(1) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), section 66 E of the Information Technology Act, and sections 16 and 17 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
These arrests mark a robust effort by Prayagraj police to tackle various forms of criminal activity, from violent crimes like murder to digital offenses involving social media misuse.
