Every day begins with spiritual bhajans and calming music broadcast throughout the facility, designed to establish a peaceful and balanced start for prisoners. "The morning programming aims to bring calm and equilibrium to the inmates' daily routine," explained Usha Rada, Superintendent of Police at Vadodara Central Jail. Following this, the radio jockey switches to lively FM music to uplift spirits as prisoners engage in various work activities within the jail.
The radio station operates from a fully-equipped studio that mirrors professional broadcasting setups, complete with advanced sound systems and computers. This technical infrastructure enables inmates to participate directly in programming, with some prisoners taking on roles as radio jockeys who curate and play diverse song selections.
Inmate Participation and Emotional Connection
"Among our inmate population, we have discovered several talented singers who perform live from the studio," noted Mukesh Chaudhary, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the jail. The station fosters personal connections by allowing prisoners to request songs for special occasions, creating moments of emotional relief within the restrictive environment.
"On birthdays or wedding anniversaries, many inmates request their favorite tracks, and our RJs happily accommodate these requests," Chaudhary added. "This provides crucial emotional support and brief entertainment behind these high walls."

Jail authorities regularly invite experts from various fields to deliver talks on subjects that guide, stabilize, and inspire the incarcerated population.
