Investigation launched

Inspector (crime) Pramod Kumar of Quarsi police station stated, "Preliminary findings suggest that Hari was waiting for the lift on the first floor when the landing door opened unexpectedly. He then fell into the shaft. As he was trying to come out, the lift suddenly descended and crushed him. The victim sustained severe injuries and was rushed to hospital, where doctors declared him dead."

He added that police have launched an investigation and are examining the lift's condition, maintenance records, and safety mechanisms to determine whether negligence led to the accident. "Further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry," he said.

Police confirmed that the body was handed over to the family after completion of panchanama, as they did not seek a postmortem.
