Property Dealer Fatally Shot by Unidentified Assailants in Sultanpur
In a shocking incident of violence, a 50-year-old property dealer was brutally shot dead by unidentified assailants in the Kudwar area of Sultanpur during the early hours of Thursday. The attack occurred as the victim, identified as Mata Prasad Pandey, had just stepped out of his SUV near the Kamla Indian Gas Service facility.
Details of the Fatal Attack
According to police reports, bike-borne attackers opened indiscriminate fire at Pandey from close range. Eyewitnesses described how the assailant riding pillion fired multiple rounds, with one bullet striking Pandey in the back and exiting through his chest, leaving him critically injured. The attackers immediately fled the scene toward Sultanpur city following the shooting.
Local residents rushed the severely wounded Pandey to the Government Medical College for emergency treatment. However, doctors determined his injuries required specialized care and referred him to a hospital in Lucknow. Tragically, Pandey succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the capital city.
Police Investigation and Victim's Criminal Background
Sultanpur Superintendent of Police Charu Nigam, along with Additional SP Akhanda Pratap Singh and CO City Saurabh Samant, promptly visited both the crime scene and the hospital. Forensic teams conducted thorough evidence collection at the location where the shooting occurred.
Police investigations revealed that the deceased property dealer had a significant criminal history. Authorities confirmed that at least six cases were registered against Pandey, including charges of murder and violations under the Goonda Act. Notably, he had been sent to jail in 2023 in connection with a murder case and was out on bail at the time of his killing.
Possible Motives and Ongoing Investigation
While the precise motive behind the murder remains unclear, police suspect the attackers conducted prior reconnaissance before executing the shooting. Preliminary information suggests Pandey may have been involved in a property-related dispute that could have triggered the violent attack.
Law enforcement has formed multiple specialized teams, including members from the Special Operations Group (SOG), to apprehend the accused individuals. The investigation continues as authorities work to establish the complete sequence of events and identify all parties involved in this deadly assault.
