In a tragic incident in Karsada village under Mehnajpur police station in Azamgarh district, a 70-year-old man named Jagdish Vishwakarma allegedly killed his younger brother Omprakash (65) by striking his head with a bamboo stick during a dispute over property division.
Incident Details
According to Azamgarh's CO (Lalganj) Bhupesh Pandey, the altercation began on Tuesday evening between the two brothers and their families, escalating into a scuffle. During the confrontation, Jagdish hit Omprakash on the head with a bamboo stock, causing severe injuries. Omprakash fell unconscious and was rushed to a hospital by family members and villagers, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Arrest and Investigation
Jagdish was arrested near Gangwal Panchayat building on Wednesday morning. The bamboo stick used in the crime was also recovered. A named FIR was lodged against Jagdish based on the complaint of Omprakash's wife, Shanti Vishwakarma. The body has been sent for postmortem examination.
Initial police investigation revealed that a dispute over property had been ongoing between the two brothers and their families for a long time. The CO stated that the killing occurred in the context of this property division dispute.
Upon receiving information, Mehnajpur police reached the spot and took the body into custody. Further investigation is underway.
