A police response vehicle (PRV) overturned into a ditch on the Lucknow-Bangarmau route in Unnao district after being struck by a truck, leaving the driver and a head constable seriously injured, according to police reports. The incident occurred on Monday around 5 a.m. near Ranibagh, within the jurisdiction of the local police station. The PRV, bearing registration number UP 32 DG 6809, lost control and overturned while returning from Veeragadha village.
Victims Trapped Inside Vehicle
Head constable Ramesh (51), son of Ramchandra Yadav and a resident of Ayodhya, along with driver Sunil Kumar (40), son of Ramkumar and a resident of Galarapur village in the Auras police station area, were trapped inside the overturned vehicle. Passersby alerted the police, and the station house officer arrived at the scene. With the help of bystanders, both men were rescued and taken to Miyanganj Community Health Centre (CHC). Due to their critical condition, the doctor referred them to the district hospital after providing initial treatment.
Investigation Underway
Dial 112 in-charge Ashwani Mishra inspected the incident site. SHO Pradeep Kumar Singh stated that information has been received regarding the truck ramming the vehicle. Efforts are being made to identify the truck with the assistance of CCTV cameras. The injured individuals remain under medical observation, and further updates are awaited.
