In a distressing incident in Pune, an 80-year-old woman suffered injuries to her face and hands while bravely attempting to resist a chain snatcher. The event unfolded in the Charholi locality late on Tuesday night, highlighting ongoing safety concerns in the area.

The victim, accompanied by her 58-year-old daughter-in-law, had gone for a post-dinner walk near their residence in Charholi around 9 PM. According to an officer from the Alandi police, two men on a motorcycle approached them. One of the assailants engaged the daughter-in-law in conversation, inquiring about an address, while the other seized the opportunity to snatch the elderly woman's gold chain.
"The pillion rider on the motorcycle snatched the victim's gold chain. When the victim tried to resist him, the man pushed her. In the melee, the woman's gold chain broke," the officer stated, detailing the aggressive nature of the crime.
Injuries and Aftermath
During the struggle, the elderly woman fell onto the road, resulting in injuries to her face and hands. Her daughter-in-law attempted to apprehend the duo, but they swiftly fled the scene on their motorcycle. The snatchers managed to escape with a portion of the gold chain, valued at approximately Rs 30,000. The remaining part of the chain was later found on the road by the victims.
