Tragedy Strikes Pune Farm as Five-Year-Old Boy Found Dead

A heartbreaking incident unfolded in the rural outskirts of Pune on Saturday morning, where a five-year-old boy was discovered dead on a farm in Kejal village, located within Bhor taluka. The young victim has been identified as Krushna Kiran Sonawane, whose family hails from Jalgaon and works as agricultural laborers in the area.

Initial Suspicions of Wildlife Attack Quickly Dismissed

Upon arriving at the scene, Rajgad police and forest department officials initially considered the possibility of a leopard attack, given the rural setting and past wildlife incidents in the region. However, after conducting a thorough examination of the farm and the surrounding area, forest officials concluded that the injuries sustained by the child were not consistent with an attack by a wild animal. This critical finding has shifted the focus of the investigation away from wildlife and toward other potential causes.

Chilling Account of the Boy's Final Moments

According to detailed statements from the Rajgad police, the tragic sequence of events began when Krushna accompanied his mother to a sugar cane field where she was employed. While his mother was engaged in her work, the boy informed her that he needed to answer nature's call. She permitted him to go to a nearby area on the farm, believing it to be safe.

"When he did not return after a considerable amount of time, his mother grew concerned and initiated a search," explained a police officer involved in the case. "She alerted other farm workers, and approximately an hour later, the boy was found unconscious at a distance from the field. Despite immediate efforts, he was later declared dead at the scene."

Ongoing Investigation and Community Impact

The police have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the exact circumstances leading to Krushna's untimely death. Authorities are examining all possibilities, including accidental causes or other factors that may have contributed to the tragedy. The incident has sent shockwaves through the tight-knit community of Kejal village, highlighting the vulnerabilities faced by migrant farmworker families and their children in agricultural settings.

This case underscores the importance of child safety in rural work environments and the need for heightened vigilance. As the investigation continues, the community and authorities alike await answers, hoping to prevent such a devastating loss from occurring again in the future.
