Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad police on Saturday arrested a pick-up truck driver for allegedly dumping the body of a road accident victim at Shikrapur instead of providing him medical assistance following an accident on Thursday.

Sequence of Events

Police revealed that instead of immediately taking the seriously injured Vishwakarma to a hospital, the driver took him along but did not seek medical treatment. The victim did not receive timely medical attention and subsequently died. The driver then allegedly dumped Vishwakarma's body on a road at Shikrapur and fled the scene.

Police stated that the driver was aware that his negligent actions could lead to the victim's death. Accordingly, charges under section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) have been invoked against the pick-up truck driver.

The case highlights the importance of providing immediate medical aid to accident victims, as delays can prove fatal. The police continue to investigate the matter.
