In response to the altercation, the Chakan police have registered cross-complaints under section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to attempted murder. According to police reports, the two friends, aged 24 and 23, had attended a party at a local eatery in Khed taluka. The 24-year-old, an employee of a private company, stated in his complaint that after the party, he advised his friend, who works as a driver, not to operate the vehicle due to being intoxicated. This well-intentioned warning, however, quickly spiraled into conflict.
Escalation to ViolenceThe driver friend allegedly responded with verbal abuse, and the situation deteriorated further when he retrieved a beer bottle from the car and struck the complainant on the head, causing significant injuries. In his cross-complaint, the driver presented a different account, claiming that his friend prevented him from driving by asserting he was drunk, which led to an exchange of abuses and an attack with the beer bottle by the friend.
