Pune Road Rage Incident Escalates to Attempted Murder Case
In a shocking display of road rage, the Kalewadi Police Station in Pune has registered a serious case of attempted murder against four individuals. The incident unfolded late on Monday night along the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) route in Rahatani, following a minor collision between a scooter and a motorcycle.
Violent Assault After Minor Accident
According to detailed police reports, the victim, a 27-year-old resident of Rahatani who works as a real estate salesman for a private company, was returning home from Pimpri on his scooter. His journey was abruptly interrupted when his vehicle collided with a motorcycle on the dedicated BRTS corridor. The impact caused both riders to fall onto the road, though initial injuries appeared minor.
The situation took a dangerous turn when a car stopped at the accident site. Police officials stated that the occupants of this vehicle began aggressively accusing the scooter rider of causing the collision. When the victim requested that these strangers not interfere in the matter, they allegedly responded with verbal abuse before launching a physical attack.
Brutal Attack Details Emerge
"One of the accused attempted to throttle the victim while the others beat him with a leather belt and punched him repeatedly," a senior police officer disclosed, describing the violent assault. The attackers showed no restraint, focusing their aggression solely on the scooter rider while ignoring the motorcycle rider involved in the initial accident.
Somehow managing to escape this brutal assault, the victim later returned to the scene with his brother and friends for support. However, by that time, the assailants had already fled the area, leaving behind only the trauma of the attack.
Legal Action and Ongoing Investigation
The Kalewadi Police have registered a formal case under sections 109 and 115 of the newly implemented Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. These sections pertain to abetment and punishment for attempt to commit offenses punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment. The registration of an attempted murder case indicates the seriousness with which authorities are treating this road rage incident.
Police authorities have confirmed that investigations are actively ongoing to identify and apprehend all four accused individuals. The case highlights growing concerns about road safety and violent behavior following minor traffic incidents in urban areas.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of how quickly routine situations on Indian roads can escalate into life-threatening violence, prompting calls for increased police vigilance and public awareness about conflict resolution.
